Sending Methods & Senders
Pingovo supports two sending methods for campaigns. You can choose the default in Settings → Campaign Settings and override it per campaign.
| Method | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Your SMTP Server | Pingovo relays outbound emails through your own SMTP credentials (any provider). | Teams who already have a configured SMTP account or ESP. |
| Pingovo Mail | Pingovo delivers directly via its own managed IP pool. From address is a Pingovo-assigned subdomain; your address appears as Reply-To. | Users without an SMTP server who want to start sending immediately. |
If a sending method is greyed out in your settings, it has been temporarily disabled by the platform administrator. At least one method is always available.
Adding an SMTP configuration
- 1Go to SMTP Settings → Add SMTP.
- 2Enter a name, SMTP host, port (usually 465 for SSL or 587 for TLS), username, and password.
- 3Click Test Connection to verify the credentials before saving.
- 4Click Save. The configuration is available for use in campaigns.
SMTP passwords are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and are never exposed in API responses or the dashboard after initial entry.
Adding a sender address
Every From address must be verified before it can be used in a campaign. The verification flow depends on the type of address:
| Address type | Verification flow |
|---|---|
| Free email (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) | Choose Pingovo Mail (OTP sent to your address; From becomes a Pingovo subdomain, Reply-To is your address) or link an SMTP account. |
| Custom domain | Choose Domain Authentication (publish SPF/DKIM/DMARC DNS records), Pingovo Mail (OTP verification), or link an SMTP account. |
When using Domain Authentication, your own domain appears as the From address. When using Pingovo Mail, recipients see a Pingovo-assigned address (e.g. [email protected]) and replies go to your real address via Reply-To.
SMTP health monitoring
Each SMTP configuration has a health tab showing delivery rate, bounce rate, and recent sending activity. If the bounce rate exceeds your plan's threshold, campaign sending will auto-pause to protect your domain reputation.
